A PictBridge Snapshot

pictbridge_logoAllion recently announced that it now provides both the Printer (PRT) and Digital Camera (DSC) Logo Certification Test Suites to conduct PictBridge tests for customers interested in PictBridge Logo Certification.

PictBridge, an industry standard from the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA), allows images to print directly from a digital camera to a printer, without the need of a computer. It is often implemented using USB ports and the USB protocol.

PictBridge-capable digital cameras generally have a Type Mini-B port, and PictBridge-capable printers generally have a USB Type A receptacle. The camera connects to the printer via USB cable, the user selects pictures to print and the printer retrieves selected images from the camera and prints them. The new certification test suites Allion labs is able to conduct tests the interoperability of consumer digital imaging products using PictBridge capabilities to ensure the products work interchangeably when they are in the customer’s hands.

The PictBridge Logo Certification Guidelines have been revised as of April 1, 2009 to improve convenience to vendors and operating stability in the logo certification program. To view specific guideline revisions, please visit http://www.cipa.jp/pictbridge/contents_e/14logoinfo_e.html.
